LeaderU offers resources not available a generation ago:

“…It is true joy to have resources like your Web site. Thirty–plus years ago, while I was an undergraduate at George Washington University, it was a very lonely experience to ask and try to answer the same question.”

—Older student recently writing a paper entitled "My Research Philosophy." He named several professors at LeaderU whom he'd cited. Apparently, LeaderU is now a part of his research philosophy.

LeaderU houses more than 4,500:

  • essays and articles
  • academic papers
  • books and chapters
  • Bible studies and ministry tools
  • debates and reviews

all from a thoughtful biblical worldview. Currently accessed by hundreds of thousands of users each month from over 135 nations. See Past Features as a starting point.

LeaderU is

  • a "one-stop shopping superstore" in the marketplace of ideas

  • a searchable collection of resources and interactive opportunities

  • a ResourceBASE containing thousands of articles, reviews, research papers, essays, books & book chapters, commentaries, video & audio files, poems and more

  • rooted in the university—sponsored by Faculty Commons, the faculty outreach and training arm of Campus Crusade for Christ International, LeaderU includes resources from the high school to research levels, with an emphasis on the scholarly

  • a multi-disciplinary vehicle to help reach professors, students and other thinkers with the best in Christian thought on a variety of compelling issues

  • a growing community of apologists for the historical Christian faith who are engaging their culture on a variety of fronts

  • the anchor site among several partnering Web sites on subjects ranging from life's origins to sexuality to business and medical ethics

“I think that Leadership University is perhaps the best Web site that I've had the pleasure of finding (and using) in my whole "cyber history"! It's not only what I thought that the Internet could be, but what I think that stimulating dialogue and criticism should be in Christian circles. I've been educated, challenged, refreshed and encouraged by so much of what I've found at Leadership University.”

    —music teacher in California

  • a partnership of journals and ministry organizations seeking to affect the public's thinking on a broad scale via shared information and thoughtful interaction

  • a current-issues-based approach to the deeper issues facing humanity (e.g., evil and suffering, morality and ethics, public policy, philosophy, origins and eternity)

LeaderU is not

  • an institution—we don't have classrooms or grant degrees

  • a "brochure site"—it's not about our agenda, but this resource is provided as a service

  • making anyone money—our mission is to provide answers to many of science's, religion's and life's weightier issues free of charge. We are sponsored by Faculty Commons, a non-profit organization

  • an Internet crossroads with links to external sites—we house thousands of resources and multiple Web sites on our own servers

Background & Philosophy

If you wish to stay informed about the culture, the campus and your faith, you will want to receive LeaderU's announcements (see bottom of page) of fresh new material, as it is made available at LeaderU. This is a free service, and will inform you each time a significant update is made.

Since the advent of the Internet, and particularly the World Wide Web in the mid-90s, public expectation of free materials has been a given. That's how the Web works best (and that's how highly relevant and content-rich files end up high in search engines), as we have found by giving away hundreds of thousands of resources a month since 1995. As the Internet matures, it seems that high-quality resources like those at LeaderU have gained more credibility for research.

From its genesis, one of the main driving forces behind LeaderU has been the notion that Christians—particularly evangelicals in the U.S.—have largely abandoned the academy and the life of the mind. We seek to help fill those gaps with multidisciplinary, scholarly written and multi-media resources from our ResourceBASE of more than 4,500 resources. In the competitive marketplace of ideas on campus and out in the culture, we pray that our alliances with professors, like-minded organizations and other thinkers provides apologetics that meet the timely needs raised by modern issues and the ages-old human questions shared by all cultures throughout history.

In addition to discipline-based index lists, such as Apologetics, Theology and Sciences and an internal search engine, resources at LeaderU can be accessed via issues-oriented Special Focus features that stay somewhere on the homepage for approximately six weeks and Virtual Faculty Offices, the Web sites of Christian professors who partner with and publish on LeaderU.
