After serving with Campus Crusade’s campus ministry for 23 years, Buz and CJ transferred to Faculty Commons in January 2006. Since they see the campus as a strategic place to influence the next generation of leaders, the change from working with and reaching out to students to doing the same with faculty was a simple transition. They now help provide leadership and organization to the Christian Faculty Forum at the University of Georgia as well as laying the foundation to launch new faculty groups on campuses in the Southeast. Buz also is helping provide leadership to the Christian graduate student group at UGA.
Buz joined Campus Crusade staff in 1983 and CJ joined staff a year later. They both were assigned to the University of Alabama where they served until May 1987 when they were married. In the fall of 1987 they moved to Auburn University where Buz served as the campus director for six years and CJ as associate director for three years. In 1993 Buz became the campus director of the student ministry at the University of Georgia and served in that role for four years. They then moved into a regional position launching new ministries on campuses where there are no full-time Campus Crusade staff before joining Faculty Commons.
They currently live in Athens, Georgia with their four school-aged children. CJ spends much of her “free time” volunteering at her children’s public schools. She has served as PTO president as well as on a district wide foundation dedicated to encouraging, honoring, and rewarding excellence in teaching. Buz has also served four terms as the PTO president of his kids’ middle school and as a volunteer track coach at the middle and high school his kids have attended.
