Information

Serving: Oklahoma State University, University of Oklahoma, University of Arkansas and universities in Oklahoma and Arkansas

Gary and Gena have given leadership to Faculty Common’s ministry to faculty in the Oklahoma-Arkansas area since 1986. They are based in Stillwater , Oklahoma and provide on-going direction for the Christian faculty group at Oklahoma State University and actively resource other professors in their area by providing training and encouragement in developing their own faculty groups. Another aspect of their work is to help professors integrate their faith into their teaching and research—thereby increasing their influence on colleagues, students, their discipline and the leaders of society.

Gary joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ in 1973, spending most of his first years in ministry with college students. Gena joined staff in 1971, working with college students in the Colorado area until she and Gary married in 1976.

The Hellmans have three sons—two are students at OSU and are engineering majors with minors in Spanish.   Both sons have been involved with various missions to Spanish-speaking people. They also have a son in high school who enjoys Spanish, math, and running cross-country and track. They love to attend OSU sporting events—Gary even grew up attending them with his family. Gary ’s interests include a passion for fly-fishing. Gena is content to enjoy the mountains where he fishes and she indulges her passion of reading.
