Personal
Information

Serving: University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University, Texas Tech University, Odessa Community College, Angelo State and universities in Texas

Since 1993, Dave and Karen have been resourcing faculty fellowship groups at University of Texas, Texas State, and Texas Tech. They are also establishing new fellowship groups on other key university campuses from their home base in the Austin, Texas area. This involves equipping Christian faculty to grow in their relationships with Christ and minister to their students and colleagues. Their vision is to produce ambassadors for Christ with a biblical worldview who can impact their campus and disciplines as beacons of God's truth and love.

Karen has served with six different ministry divisions of Campus Crusade for Christ since 1971 in a variety of leadership roles. A highlight of these years was working with wives of foreign ambassadors during assignment in Nairobi, Kenya (1986-1992). During this period Dave and Karen taught at the Nairobi International School of Theology and also helped to establish a ministry to Kenya's top business and government leadership. Dave was able to conduct his doctoral field research in Anthropology among Kenya's Akamba people while they were there.

Dave and Karen's two adult sons share their parents' love of Kenya. It is no surprise that the family enjoys outdoor activities like camping, canoeing, gardening, and disc-golfing. Their older son distinguished himself by entering Physical Therapy School after only three years of undergraduate studies along with marrying a beautiful wife who is also finishing her undergraduate studies in three years. Their younger son is currently playing college football as well as pursuing business and finance. He is seriously considering adding baseball to his current list of college accomplishments.

Favorite book

Dave: Any of three equals: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe; The Great Divorce; Screwtape Letters (this makes C.S. Lewis my favorite author).

Karen: The Tapestry by Edith Schaeffer.

Claim to fame

Dave: Able to view life from both a man and a woman's perspective. Why? Because he has donated corneas in each eye: one from man and one from a woman. Second, Dave has walked with and talked in the native dialect of Kikamba with the Father of Kenya and former leader of the notorious, dreaded Mau Mau movement--Jomo Kenyatta.

Karen: Went to high school in Europe: initially at Marymount International School in Paris, France followed by graduation from Leysin American School in Switzerland.
